The third edition of Malindi Biennial Exhibition (December 2010- February 2011), developed by Achille Bonito Oliva, has collected 120 works that are now exhibited in the museum and was previewed at MAGI Museum with an exhibition where many artists, who also participated in previous editions, exposed their works.
For Giulio Bargellini, who strongly supported the project of the Italian artist Sarenco -deep expert of African contemporary artists and organizer of the foundation that bears his name- the Biennial Exhibition is the concrete evidence of the attention that the collector always had for Africa.
Already expressed in several humanitarian initiatives and from the collection of works by Italian and African artists in Malindi, this sensitivity and fascination for African culture and society found in the Biennial Exhibition another opportunity to assert itself, showing harmony and synergy among different cultures and offering visibility to emerging authors.
The works have been specially realized by artists from around the world, in particular members of the Fluxus Movement, of conceptual art, of Visual Poetry and there are also several African artists, now known in the West thanks to the work of promoting and growing interest of international collectors.
Among them emerges the South African artist Esther Mahlangu, and with her the MAGI Museum has established a special relationship, dedicating to her a monographic exhibition section.
